Vegan Lip Balm

As with all of my body care recipes, I started making my own lip balm because I can make it with higher quality ingredients for a fraction of the price, and customize the recipe to get it exactly how I want it. I prefer a fragrance-free lip balm that doesn’t irritate chapped lips, and this formula is nicely moisturizing with a good texture that applies easily without being too soft or too stiff at room temperature.

Ingredients

  • 8 g candelilla wax
  • 15 g refined shea butter
  • 10 g avocado oil
  • 8 g castor oil
  • 8 g jojoba oil
  • .25 g rosemary extract
  • .5 g vitamin e oil
  • 12 lip balm tubes

Directions

  1. Combine candelilla wax, shea butter, avocado oil, castor oil, and jojoba oil in a small metal pitcher and set in a small pot of water over medium heat until fully melted, stirring occasionally.
  2. Remove from the pot of water and stir in the rosemary extract and vitamin e oil.
  3. Carefully pour into 12 lip balm tubes. Let sit undisturbed until cool and set, then wipe off any drips and add the lids.

Store extra tubes in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.
